The Academic Advising Center (AAC) coordinates college advising and gives support that provides students at every level with the resources, instruction, and academic support they need to succeed. At each step of a student’s college career, we have a network of academic advisers ready to assist students by helping them stay on an academic path. We can also connect students with opportunities for academic exploration within and beyond the traditional classroom setting.
What is Academic Advising(AA)?
Beyond all, Academic Advising (AA) is a relationship. Just as with any other relationship, it takes time to grow. The relationship intends to provide students with support for a superior education, attending to their intellectual growth and their development as adults committed to high ethical standards and full participation as leaders in their communities. AA utilizes various advising resources that encourage students to identify and pursue their academic interests and personal goals. From student admittance to graduation, our network of advisors guides students in discovering—and engaging with — all the curricular and co-curricular opportunities that SBEM offers.
What is the role of the academic advisor?
An academic advisor is here to help students with degree decisions, course selection, and many other academic decisions. That way, academic advisors can help students select courses that suit their needs and life circumstances. Further, the advisor is also available to discuss student life and struggles so he/she can get to know the student better.
