UACS School of Foreign Languages at the 13th ELTAM MK International Biannual Conference “New Challenges, New Perspectives”

On October 25 and 26 the Macedonian Association of English Language Teachers-ELTAM MK organized their 13 International Biannual Conference titled “New Challenges, New Perspectives”. It hosted more than 150 English Language Teachers from primary, secondary and tertiary education in North Macedonia and guest from Poland, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania and Kosovo.

The Association celebrated its 25th anniversary of its foundation. Throughout the years, the University American College Skopje has been a dedicated supporter of various ELTAM activities and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for the cooperation, accepted by the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivana Trajanoska. Moreover, the long contribution of UACS lecturer Jovanka Jovanchevska to the editing and the publishing of the ELTAM scientific journal was also recognized and appreciated.

On the first day of the Conference, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ilina Kachinske and lecturer Tamara Jolevska Popov from UACS School of Foreign Languages presented the findings of their research on the use of AI in the EFL Classroom titled English Language Teachers vs. Generative AI, the Big Showdoawn. Also, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ilina Kachinske gave an individual talk on the ways of instructing grammar in the EFL classroom titled Rethinking Grammar Instruction: Exploring less Explicit Approaches in L2 Grammar Teaching.

In addition, the third-year students from the School of Foreign Languages, Marija Ilijevska and Aleksandar Stamkov presented the Master programs of the School of Foreign Languages, MA in Teaching English Language and Literature and MA in Creative Writing, as well as the two-year Master program in Business Communication and Translation, to the interested EFL teachers and students.
