The Importance and Methodology of Moody’s Credit Ratings

On 05 December, the students from SBEM were honored to have Mr. Gjorgji Josifov, a Moody’s Ratings analyst who delivered a lecture on the Importance and Methodology of Moody’s Credit Ratings.

Mr. Josifov explained how Moody’s forms rating opinions about issuers, including the assignment of a Baseline Credit Assessment. The framework of the scorecard factors offers valuable insights into how credit ratings are determined and their significant impact on financial landscapes.

The lecture also explored Case Studies that illustrated how Credit Ratings influence Governments’ Spending and Financing and discussed the linkages between the central government and local governments as well as the connection between ratings, issuers’ debt levels, and long-term economic stability.

We thank Mr. Josifov for sharing his expertise and our students for their engaging contributions. We hope the knowledge gained will inspire informed decisions and deepen our understanding of credit ratings and public finance.
