WHY IS THE SCHOOL OF LAW THE BEST LAW SCHOOL IN MACEDONIA?

The School of Law at University American College Skopje is one of the leading schools of law in the Republic of Macedonia. The UACS School of Law offers study programs in two concentrations:

  • Jurisprudence Law
  • Business Law

A unique opportunity in Macedonia:  the concentration in Business Law is accredited in the USA by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)

The law science requires an excellent theoretical basis. However, the practical implementation, which complements the delivery of the courses, is even more important for the students. The students learn through:

  • Case studies
  • Role plays
  • Mock Court
  • Theory + Practical application
  • Research activities, projects, essays and oral presentations, which are prepared in collaboration with the professors. They also constitute a considerable part of the students’ assessment. Therefore, the students are prepared for elaboration of various topics in oral or written language.
  • Small class size enables every student’s active participation in the teaching process. The class discussions are part of the course delivery.

    • The student/teacher ratio at the School of Law is 12:1, a ratio that indicates individual attention to each students.

The UACS School of Law offers an ambitious and innovative study program, which aims to prepare the students for building a successful legal career and becoming professionals in their field. The study programs prepare the students to cope with real-life situations, and they also help them exploit the employment opportunities in the field of law.

After acquiring 300 ECTS, students enrolled in both concentrations at the School of Law are eligible to take the Bar Exam.

  • Zoran Mihajloski, PhD is a lecturer at the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors of the Republic of Macedonia
  • Marko Andonov, PhD is the coordinator of the module in Business Law at the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors of the Republic of Macedonia.
  • Kimo Chavdar, PhD is a regular speaker at the Annual Assemblies of the Macedonian Lawyers Association.
  • Zoran Shapurikj, PhD is a UACS Associate Professor in EU Law, Human Rights and Environment and former Macedonian Minister of Environment and Urban Planning.
  • Stevo Pendarovski, PhD is a UACS Associate Professor in International Security and Foreign Affairs former Macedonian Deputy Minister for Public Relations and Advisor to the Macedonian President
  • Dushko Stojanovski, PhD is a UACS Associate Professor, expert in fields such as: Criminal Law, Criminal Justice, Criminology, War Crimes & Human Rights Protection, Terrorism & Human Rights, and Conflict Management. Previous work experience in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia.
  • Elena Bundaleska, PhD is a UACS Assistant Professor. Previous work experience: Assistant manager in the Legal Division at Stopanska banka AD Skopje. Areas of expertise: Contract Law, Business Law, Business Ethics and Corporate Governance.
  • Jadranka Mrshikj, PhD is a UACS Assistant Professor. Previous work experience: CEO of KB First Pension Company, Macedonian Stock Exchange, Komercijalna banka AD Skopje. Areas of expertise: Financial Markets and Institutions, Financial Reports Analysis, Accounting.
  • Understanding the Macedonian legal system and its functioning, as well as the importance of the sources of law.
  • Developing analytical skills for analyzing the legal system and the law itself.
  • Identifying particular characteristics of the Macedonian legal system and making a comparison with the legal systems worldwide.
  • Developing thorough knowledge of the legal systems, the Constitution and its implementation.
  • Developing public speaking and argumentative skills for the purpose of addressing issues in the field of business law, financial law, banking and other related fields.
  • The knowledge acquired by School of Law students can be implemented in the following way:
  • Ability to present the facts of a legal case, elaborate decisions regarding a legal case and participate in debates about the legal aspects of various cases
  • Identify the characteristics of trading companies and have knowledge of the legal aspects of banking and securities trading.

After finishing the undergraduate studies and earning the degree at UACS School of Law, the students can experience employment opportunities at:

  • Various institutions in the Republic of Macedonia in the areas of law, as courts, public prosecution offices, attorney, notaries public offices, executors’ offices, etc.
  • Legal departments in companies and organizations
  • Human resource departments in companies and organizations
