Official Opening of Professor Gáspár Bíró Library in honor of our late Professor Honoris Causa

The Professor Gáspár Bíró Library in honor of our late professor Honoris Causa was officially opened on 23 January 2017.

In the presence of high representatives of the Embassy of Hungary in Skopje, UACS administration and faculty members and representatives of the media, Mr. István Íjgyártó, Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Prof. Dr. Marjan Bojadjiev, Rector of University American College Skopje (UACS), unveiled the plaque at the official opening of the University library.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After the official opening of Professor Gáspár Bíró Library, a lecture on the topic of: “A Century of Islam’s Legal Recognised Existence in Hungary” was held by Prof. Dr. Balázs Déri, Director of the Centre for the Study of Religion at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest.

It was attended on part of representatives of the diplomatic community in the country, the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, UACS students, faculty and administration.

Prior to the lecture, the Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. István Íjgyártó, officially addressed the audience. He talked about the life and career of Prof. Gáspár Bíró, thereby expressing gratitude to University American College Skopje, an institution which will always commemorate his name and splendid deeds.

 

On behalf of the Embassy of Hungary in Skopje, the Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy, Mr. István Íjgyártó and the Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Mr. István László Dux, donated books to the Professor Gáspár Bíró Library.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In his official address, UACS Rector, Prof. Dr. Marjan Bojadjiev, provided a short overview of his collaboration with Prof. Bíró, as well as his contribution to the University, Republic of Macedonia and the main political issues in the world.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The head of the Islamic Religious Community in Macedonia, Reis-ul-ulema Haxhi Sulejman effendi Rexhepi expressed his gratitude for the initiative to hold a lecture a topic covering the Islam’s legal recognized existence in Hungary.
