UACS School of Foreign Languages hosted a Linguistics online lecture given by Dr Alison Long

On 13 October 2020, the UACS School of Foreign Languages hosted a Linguistics online lecture given by Dr Alison Long, Programme Director of the Modern Language Centre at Keele University, UK, and a Visiting Professor at UACS.

The lecture titled ‘Current Trends in Linguistic Research’ was attended by School’s faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and was moderated by the Dean, Prof Dr Marjana Vaneva.

During the talk, Dr Long discussed the various research methods used in linguistics today, which the postgraduate students can use in the writing-up of their Master theses, and connected those methods and approaches with second language learning and teaching practices. The students contributed to this engaging talk with their own comments and questions.

This academic year, this will be only first of the talks to be organized in order to nourish the students’ interest in the subject.
