The University American College Skopje (UACS) and the UACS School of Computer Science and Information Technologies (SCSIT) are pleased to announce an Open Call for Collaboration on Capstone Projects (Final Year Project, Diploma Work), a part of the UACS Connect program aimed at promoting excellence in education and research. The UACS Connect platform offers a unique opportunity to connect students with successful IT companies and prominent figures from home and abroad, including renowned scholars, researchers, and experts.
A capstone project is a mandatory 12 ECTS credit final project for the students enrolled in the 180 ECTS – three-year program in Software Engineering and consists of the realization of one semester-long project which can be, roughly speaking, Investigative, Evaluative, or Constructive in any of the areas of computer sciences/software engineering.
The Open Call for Collaboration on the Capstone Project invites leading companies, experts, and scholars to contribute to the promotion of research excellence and the advancement of innovation, by co-mentoring Capstone Projects for final-year UACS students from the first cycle of academic studies.
Who can participate
The call is open for both local and international companies and individuals in expert positions interested in research and/or practical collaboration with students from the University American College Skopje, within the framework of a Capstone project. The collaboration is voluntary.
What we offer
The interested parties will have the opportunity to co-mentor a Capstone project for the final year students from SCSIT (undergraduate studies), together with an internal supervisor from UACS. Through co-mentorship, external companies and experts will be able to help the students choose, plan, start, and complete the Capstone project. The Capstone project should contain a balance between theoretical work and a practical project. Each partner company and individual affiliated with UACS Connect will be awarded a certificate in recognition of their collaboration, as and appreciation for their contribution.
Requirements
Interested companies and individuals are required to prepare a UACS Connect Collaboration Proposal that includes the following information:
– Defines the number of Capstone projects available for co-mentorship (max. 3)
– Provides a short description of several (max. 5) proposed topics for Capstone projects, from which the students will be able to choose their graduation thesis
– Specifies available dates for 2 to 3 online sessions, in which the Capstone project topics will be presented in detail to the interested students (with a time framework for realization – online between 16.12.2024 and 31.01.2025)
– Defines weekly/monthly consultation hours during the Capstone project execution phase (03.02.2025 – 28.03.2024), for coordination with the students
– CV of the (principal) promoter or Company contact person for this activity.
The deadline for the submission of the proposals is 02.12.2024 (Monday).
