You can learn more regarding Sergej’s study abroad experience in the interview below.

Sergej, how was your study abroad experience at ESIC Business School in Madrid, Spain?

– Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to the UACS team, for providing me with the opportunity to spend a study semester abroad in the lovely Madrid through the Erasmus + student exchange programme.

Studying abroad is one of the greatest things a student can experience in his/her life. From the beginning until the end of the study abroad semester spent at ESIC Business School, I was facing a lot of challenges, as the language barrier, doing projects with students who do not speak English fluently, trying to speak the local, i.e. Spanish language instead of English language, looking for the best transportation options in Madrid, etc.

On the other hand, what I am happy to say is that I had the best adventure of a lifetime, since I managed to make a lot of friends from all around the world, learn the Spanish language, gain new knowledge and definitely broaden my horizons. All the challenges I have been facing while studying abroad have helped me become a more responsible and independent person.

What is the difference between the studies at UACS and the studies at ESIC Business School?

– There is no big difference between the studies conducted at UACS and at ESIC Business School. As part of the teaching process, the faculty at both of the higher education institutions provides projects, homeworks, class discussions and different group activities to the students. Therefore, the students are able to exchange ideas and share their opinion on different topics with colleagues from all around the world.

The theoretical and practical knowledge I have gained during the undergraduate studies at UACS SBEM has helped me be more prepared for the challenges of studying in an international environment and completing all the assigned tasks, projects and activities.

I would like to encourage all UACS students to experience the benefits offered by the Erasmus + programme and thereby gain an international experience during their studies.

Did you manage to discover Spain’s culture, customs, natural and historical sights?

– There are a lot of different things one can do in Spain, as watching a football match, bullfighting (corrida de toros), attending festivals and concerts, exploring the historical monuments or experiencing the Spanish customs, traditions.

I have traveled with my friends, with whom I have managed to visit a few museums and historical sites, including the Prado Museum (Museo del Prado).

At the end of the day, I have really enjoyed tasting the traditional Spanish dishes and listening to Spanish music.
