International Public Law

The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to INTERNATIONAL LAW (the Law of Nations) in its legal and political aspects.  International Law can be defined as a body of norms that regulate mutual relations of nation-states and other international persons.  It is also a process of political decision making with respect to events transcending national borders. Selected cases, U.S. and international, will be analyzed as will the role of law in the international community and international processes.  The course is a necessary component of the curriculum of any future specialist in international relations and diplomacy.
