Entrepreneurial Field Trip for students from NOVA International Schools

On March 20, 2017 (Monday), UACS organized the first Entrepreneurial Field Trip for the 9th, 10th and 11th graders from NOVA International Schools.

Bettina Jones, MA, faculty member of UACS School of Foreign Languages was the moderator of the event. She welcomed the NOVA students and wished them a fruitful and successful field trip. Furthermore, she invited NOVA Alumni and current UACS undergraduate students, Aleksandar Andonovski and Emil Bishev, to address the high school students and share their study experience at UACS.

Creativity exercises on Entrepreneurship, led by our SBEM faculty member, Makedonka Dimitrova, MPPM, followed. Moreover, Mrs. Makedonka Dimitrova, MPPM held a lecture on the stages of the process of starting and developing a business. During the lecture, NOVA students were encouraged to ask questions and engage in a class discussion.

After the short break, NOVA International Schools’ students had the possibility to learn more about the experience of the successful entrepreneurs and UACS Alumni, Ivan Zografski and Maja Ilievska.

Ivan Zografski talked more regarding his startup, the crowdsourced business development platform, SOLVEO, where students meet industry to seek innovative solutions to modern business problems, as well as about the challenges he encountered when starting his business. He also organized a fun and interesting exercise for the students, during which they were able to express their ideas.

Ms. Maja Ilievska held a presentation on identifying business opportunities, starting her business with pizza delivery boxes which provide the possibility for promoting the Macedonian companies’ products and services, Domino the Effect, and her other startup, Effective Box. She also talked more about the procedure for patenting her product in Macedonia and all the challenges she has faced as an entrepreneur at a young age

At the end of the event, Aleksandra Karadja, the Head of UACS Rector’s Office held a presentation on “Why Choose UACS?”, thereby talking more about the undergraduate study programs of the University, the UACS positioning in the Macedonian higher education sector according to the latest ranking conducted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as well as all the opportunities the University has to offer to its students (internship positions provided by the company members of UACS Business Council, Erasmus+ mobility opportunities, study abroad opportunities, student organizations, etc.)

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Mr. Daniel Cunningham, open faculty member in Social Sciences at NOVA International Schools, who has helped us organize this first Entrepreneurial Field Trip for the students from this high school.
