Ass. Vladimir Deskov with the exhibition Toward a Concrete Utopia: Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948–1980 in the Museum of Modern Art in New York

If there is any proof of the quality and value of an architects work, then their exhibitions should be worth the merit.

The Museum of Modern Art will explore the architecture of the former Yugoslavia with Toward a Concrete Utopia: Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948-1980, the first major US exhibition to study the remarkable body of work that sparked international interest during the 45 years of the country’s existence.

The main culprits for the exhibition are the Swiss architect Martino Stierli as main curator and Philip Johnson, Chief Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA, as well as Vladimir Kulic as co-curator and Ana Kats as assistant curator.

In order for the exhibition to be an accurate replica and an expert display of the architectures theme, MoMA invited several architects from the region that have been renowned for their work on collecting, exploring, interpreting, and evaluating these architectural realizations, in order to form a curatorial advisory board.

We are extremely proud to share that our very own Vladimir Deskov, lecturer at the School of Architecture and Design is part of the curatorial advisory board.

We cannot wait for his return from New York to share his experiences, so in the meantime we are leaving you with some pictures from the exhibition and some related articles that will give you more insight on the exhibition.
