Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Andonov participated in the 2017 Annual HELP Network Conference

The Dean of the UACS School of Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Andonov, participated in the 2017 Annual HELP Network Conference entitled “HELP for Friendly Justice”, which took place on 19-20 June 2017 in Strasbourg, France.

Welcoming addresses were given by the Ambassador Emil Ruffer, permanent representative of the Czech Republic to the Council of Europe and Current Chair of the Committee of Members and Christos Giakoumopoulos, Director of the Directorate of Human Rights of the Council of Europe.

Gathering over 130 participants, representing training institutions for judges and prosecutors and Bar Associations, the aim of the Council of Europe Programme on Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Conference was to present the latest case law of the European Court of Rights concerning judiciary, an update of HELP’s achievements and activities in the period 2016-2017, as well as its future and raising membership. Furthermore, the participants from national training institutions and Bar Associations were divided in two working groups, thereby discussing cross border cooperation in human rights training.

In the second day, the participants followed courses on child-friendly justice and children’s labour rights, human rights and violence against women and domestic violence, among others.

The Conference was also attended on part of HELP partners and allies, including the representatives of the European Union, the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN), the Council of Bar and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), the UNCHR, and others.
