On 4 March 2021, Dr Ekaterina Troshchenkova, Professor of Linguistics in the Department of English Language and Cultural Studies at St Petersburg State University, Russia, was a guest lecturer in the UACS SFL class of ELT Methods on the topic of “Teaching English to university students and adults: Traps and Pitfalls”. The host course instructor, Prof Dr Marjana Vaneva, had invited the undergraduate and postgraduate students of English to hear about the practical challenges in the profession based on the lecturer’s personal teaching experience of about 20 years. Due to the students’ internship or working experience as teachers, they could all willingly engage in the discussion so the question-and-answer session easily turned into a tip-sharing experience commenting the practical do’s and don’ts when teaching English to all age groups and levels.
